Take a Picture, Brother!

While we were on vacation, Diego insisted (almost on a daily basis) to "take a picture, brother".  What he really meant was that he wanted to play with my big-girl camera.  Here are some shots we took on different mornings.  He's havin' a ball!

Other things he wants me to say he says now:

"Change your diaper" when I need to change HIS diaper
"I'll get you one?" after I tell him that I don't have or he can't have something.

Self-Punishment

qori_selfpunishment
I looked over last night and found him sulking in self-punishment mode after ferociously amputating one of Diego's Godzilla action figures.  We got home and Diego pointed to the missing foot and said, "Mama, -ix it."

"Sorry Diego, I can't fix it.  It's broken now."

He looked at the toy, then he looked at me and seemed to want to reassure me.  It was like he said "It's OK. Don't worry"

and then he said very calmly, "Dada -ix it."

I didn't punish Qori for what he did.  It was too late, but I think Diego's reaction got to him.  Or maybe he was just to lazy to move?  Yeah - probably the latter.

8 months!

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App
The other day as I reached my house, I realized I had drifted off into thought and wonder for maybe 15 minutes while driving home from my parents' house.  It was one of those moments when you snap back to regular consciousness while driving and think to yourself, "Oh my!  How did I get all the way over here already?  Did I really just drive all the way here?"

It's a 15 minute drive from my parents' house.  15 minutes!  The two smaller organisms in the car had been quiet enough to allow me to drift off into thought for 15 minutes.  Not a peep was made.  Not a cry, or a giggle, or a moan.  Complete silence!  This means that at 8 months, Mateo is FINALLY a good car baby! It's so refreshing to know that the worst (in terms of car rides) is now over!

Other Tater Tidbits
  • You said "Mama"!  You said "Mama"!  You said "Mama"!
  • You've been going to sleep earlier around 7:30 or 8 pm.  But you still wake up at least once in the night at 3am.
  • You pretty much hold your own bottle, so every morning I give it to you while you're laying in your crib and it allows me to have more time to get ready in the mornings
  • I started giving you Gerber puff treats and it's fun to watch your hand/eye coordination.  The puffs don't always make it in your mouth though.
  • You're not crawling yet, but according to my notes your brother started after two weeks of completing 8 months, tick-tock!
  • Grandma scoffed when I tried to give your brother a mohawk, but she thinks a mohawk rather suits your face frame

Mama's 8-mos Tidbits
  • Still no luck on the increased lactation front.  It's actually gone down from producing 8oz. a day to 6 oz.  I'm feeling like it's almost time to call it quits.
  • I finally bit the bullet and bought a video monitor for the nursury, and I'm so glad I finally did.
  • My hair continues to be cooperative regarding frizziness, but oh my it is soooo thin :(

4-Month Update!

Photobucket It's been 4 months!  Where has the time gone?  At first I was counting down the days to when you would sleep through the night, and now four months later I've gone back to work and you still wake up about 1-2 times in the night.  But honestly, I'm happy to have survived the first few months of sleepless nights.  1-2 times in the night?  Piece of cake!

Ma-TAY-to's 4 Month Tidbits:

You weighed 17lbs at your 4 month check-in!
I put you in a Carter's 9 MONTH one-sie the other day... fit you like a glove...  9 months!
You're above the 90's percentile for weight, height, and length
You go to sleep around 9 pm and wake around 7 am (with a couple wakes in between)
You like to grasp things and prefer to put cloth toys vs. hard toys in your mouth
You flirt...  look directly in people's eyes and smile your dimpl-y smile
You have a proud smile on your face when you bear your own weight on your legs
You prefer being in a carrier vs. a stroller (which is opposite of what Mama likes)
Your warning-cry sounds more like you're chuckling to yourself (then you start to wail!)
You love when people play with your feet
You love watching your big brother at play
Sometimes you fall asleep crying; like when Mama puts you in the crib to cook dinner
You're not sure what to make of wind (you take a deep breath and tense up when a gust blows)
You suck your hand and Mama wonders if this is a sign for future thumb-sucking
You are not the best car-baby.  Aren't babies supposed to fall asleep in cars?  Not you!
You're much more tolerant of bath time than your brother was!

Hungry Eyes

Just having some fun today! The running joke is that Mateo looks at me like I'm his "lechera" aka: Milk Maid. He totally stares at me like I'm a piece of meat so much that it reminded me of the M&Ms commercial. So I thought I'd have a little fun.... at my son's expense!

Hope this gives you the giggles! Ever been looked at like a piece of meat/milk?

PS. He weighed in over 14lbs at his 2 month check-in. He basically doubled since birth! Those eyes have definitely been hungry!

Which is Cuter?

It's that time of year again.... Time to take Christmas photos. Since my sister is a photographer (not of the paparazzi kind), I get to take free, semi-professional photos. They usually consist of me, my husband, and fuzzy Qori.

So this year, I thought I'd be a little festive and wear a Santa Hat. Then I thought, "Well, since I have a Santa Hat, Qori is going to need something too!" So I thought about some reindeer antlers, but Mokee already did that (and he pulled it off better than Qori could because Mokee looked like a Moose). So I went with an Elf outfit. But as we were trying on our new outfits I realized, Qori could pull either off. Although the Christmas photo will have Qori as an Elf (because that tiny hat won't fit on my head), I was wondering.... Which do you think is cuter?
