What's in Santa's Bag?

Santa will be bringing a few things for Diego this year.  What will he bring your little ones?

• Mr. Potato Head - He knows the words "Eyes, Nose, Mouth, etc." but in Spanish.  This may help us teach him in English.  Plus he really liked playing with it at the speech therapy evaluation we went to.
• Remote controlled Car - To help him with "motor" skills of a different nature.  I'm sure he'll pick up the idea quickly.  What boy doesn't love remote controlled cars?
• Vtech Text and Go - You remember that his laptop magically taught him letters, so now I'm hoping that this texting thing will help him with his numbers.  (the laptop does not have dedicated buttons for numbers.)  Hey if technology is the only way to get this child to learn, I'm all for it.  Text away Diego!  Just don't text and drive your remote controlled car.....
• Thomas the Train Set - Well, this is technically for the Christmas tree but Diego loves trains so much that I'm sure the set will hang around longer than the tree.  Santa may put Percy or cargo accessories in a certain someone's stocking!

Mommy Fail (Again!)

This child can jump on skateboards and balance on them while getting some "semi-air",  he survived an intense construction zone at home, jumps from the highest stairs he can, and climbs up his mini-rock climbing wall with barely a scratch on his face.  But he is NO match the hidden dangers of SLEEPING!

Just like the last Mommy Fail moment, this incident took place at night when mommy and daddy were dog tired.  Except this time, Diego was too.  We all fell asleep on the bed, but I had removed the white bed rail (in the background) earlier because Diego was climbing it like his rock climbing wall and with each climb it was coming off the bed, certain to lead to a disaster.  I had scary visions of a toddler at the pinnacle of his climb when the railing would detach from the bed and both would come falling down to the ground.  So I removed it thinking I was averting certain disaster.  Little did I know I was only trading one disaster for another.

I woke up sometime in the middle of the night and changed Diego's diaper and put him in his PJs while he continued to sleep.  We had all been so sleepy that we had retired to bed without even changing our clothes.  For a split-second I thought about re-installing the bed rail, but I was so tired and went back to bed.  After all, that bed rail was relatively new in our house (maybe just a few days old) and we never needed it before and Diego is almost two.  I was wrong.

There was a thump in the middle of the night, and then the soundless gasping of a child who was in too much pain to even vocalize it.  Daddy took the reigns this time around, and consoled Diego back to sleep, but we both knew that morning would reveal the real damage.  And it did. 

Of course this happens right at the beginning of my maternity leave while Diego is on my watch.  And of course this happens just in time for all the holiday pictures!

Project Four-Zero: 37 Weeks!

My first full week of maternity leave has passed, and I'm introducing you to my new "bed" in this week's photo.  Yes, it's the couch, and no I did not lose a fight with Hubby (I wouldn't lose - LOL).  I just can't sleep like a regular person anymore.  Sleeping upright or in the "delivery" pose has been working out much better for me.  I still wake up every night at least once at 2am though, but what's a pregnant lady to do?  Last night at 2am, I got on my phone and started watching a Shaytard video and found yet another gadget I NEED!  The swivl.  Yes please!

This first week off was really busy for me trying to prep for Mateo's arrival, crafting, and going to my appointments.  Honestly, just about the entire family is surprised that Mateo hasn't come yet, especially my husband. Hubby really put a lot of pressure on himself to get our house ready for Mateo and trying to finish a lot of big projects at work.  He thought Mateo would come "in the middle of the madness" and since he did not Hubby has been singing his praises about Mateo.

Hubby:  "Mateo let me get everything done! He really helped me out.  He can come whenever he wants now!  Easy!"

Me: "Pshhh. Yeah, easy!  You're forgetting that I will be the one doing all the work to push him out!  Easy..."

SYMPTOMS

No sleep.

CRAVINGS

Cheerios - I bought some for my son, but I think I've been eating them more than he has!

Chocolate - but there's none around, which is a good thing!

Qori helps me get the right lighting for my photo and fluffs my pillows while he's at it.

Spirit in an Unfinished House!

I've mentioned before that we've moved into the unfinished parts of the house AND we have our tree up.  As of now, my weekly updates on the house construction will cease, and I will occasionally post if something worthwhile has happened in the house.  But for now, we didn't want to risk any construction to continue during the holidays and while we wait for Mateo's arrival.  We needed to be ready for him, AS-IS.

From now on I'm sure you'll catch glimpses of the unfinished parts of the house like in the following pictures.  At least we have the Christmas spirit!

Crafting: Delivery Room Fashion!

Howdy!  During my first few days of off time for maternity leave I prioritized my projects and decided that "Delivery Room Fashion Attire" would be the first crafting project I would work on.  No sillies - not fashion for me, fashion for my little boys (the newborn & the toddler).

I made the following two statement tees (T-shirt & onsie) using the same idea I learned from my Award Winning Maternity costume (freezer paper & fabric paint).  The only difference here is that I used a second color (white) to fill in the holes for the text such as "o", "e", and "a".  I hope that makes sense.  The onsie was Pinterest inspired of course!  The toddler shirt came out better because the text was larger and easier to cut out.

I have a vision of a photo of the back of Diego's head while he looks pensively into the nursery, and  the back of the t-Shirt displays "Big Bro".  Let's see if my vision can become a reality on Delivery Day!

Top Mommy Blog?

Hey friends! 

The lovely Morgan over at Modern Mommyhood suggested that I sign up to join the Top Mommy Blogs website a few weeks back.  I've been going to TMB for awhile to get a dose of new mommy blogs that interest me.  It's a really good web tool if you're into mommy blogs.  I've hesitated joining, but after Modern Momma's suggestion I thought:  "Why not??!"  This blog could stand to have a few more readers :)

So Golden Dreemz has officially been accepted!  Isn't that "Rexcellent"?  Won't you please help us get some blog love?  We're a small fish in a big pond!  Diego has agreed that with each vote, Qori gets a little "un-smushed"!  Do it for Qori!  He's counting on you! LOL!
